Model Boating

Sunday mornings are for boating at Black Park.

Yacht Picture

Sail, steam and electric powered models are allowed. I have sail and steam, which I take depending on the prevailing wind.
My last sailing trip was on regatta day when a 'gentle' bump into another yacht caused the ballast weight to drop to the bottom of the lake - result upside down boat. Fortunately it floats either way up, and I had the canoe handy. This is it the right way up. The two channel radio controls the rudder and sail winch.

Lakeside Picture

Here we are on regatta day waiting to launch for the racing. The picture was taken from the canoe. Proceeds from the regatta go to the Wexham Park Heart Trust.

Steamboat Innards Steamboat Sailing

Here are two pictures of one of my steam boats - inside and out - it's functional rather than decorative. This one is powered by an old paraffin blowlamp which is temperamental to say the least. The latest one is gas powered - instant fire !

Pictures of the other steamer will follow when I have taken some. I'll try to get them in focus too.
